CEO says Total can invest in 2 LNG terminals of Novatek
MOSCOW, Apr 18 (PRIME) -- France’s Total plans to invest in construction of liquefied natural gas (LNG) transshipment terminals of Russian gas producer Novatek near Murmansk and on the Kamchatka Peninsula, CEO Patrick Pouyanne told reporters on Thursday.
“We have just declared that we will invest in Arctic LNG-2 but we will also invest in the terminals in Murmansk and Kamchatka. This is part of a deal with Novatek. In order to develop Arctic LNG-2 we need two hubs, one in Murmansk, the other in Kamchatka. And Total will be the partner in these two hubs,” Pouyanne said.
Novatek plans to build a facility to handle LNG in the Ura Bay in the Murmansk Region with a transshipment capacity of 20 million tonnes a year. The Kamchatka facility capacity can amount to 20 million tonnes with a possibility to rise to 40 million tonnes.
